Sida’s Biodiversity related support 2022

Biodiversity degradation threatens livelihoods and hampers poverty alleviation. Sida annually reports on its financial support to biodiversity under the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). This document provides a summary of Sida’s biodiversity related support in 2022, based on quality assured statistical data per July 5, 2023. The data is derived through the application of the so-called “Rio-marker” for biodiversity. Since 1998, the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC) members are requested to monitor financial contributions using the Rio markers for development finance, including the Rio marker for biodiversity. A contribution (projects and programs) can be marked with the code 0 (not targeted), (significant objective ) or 2 (principal objective) depending on to what extent it fulfils the criteria for that specific marker.
