Hot Issue: Women’s Organisations and the Engagement of Men

Gender equality and women and girls’ rights is apriority in Swedish development cooperation.Sida has since long given support to women’srights organisations as key stakeholders forpromoting gender equality. Sida is also a globalleader in supporting men’s engagement for genderequality. However, a combination of a greatdemand for limited resources and the increasingengagement of organisations working for men’sresponsibility for gender equality have created aconcern on how to balance the support to women’sorganisations with that of the engagementof men. The purpose of this brief is to discusssome of the most common questions in relationto this dilemma.
