The governing board

Sida is managed by a governing board which is our highest management body. It is responsible for the efficient and legally certain operation of the agency as well as the responsible management of state funds. The board must also ensure that Sida's internal governance and control functions work well.

The board is appointed by the government and consists of nine people. Together, they hold the competence required for Sida's various areas of operation, including organisation and finance. The director-general is a member of the board and responsible for the day-to-day operations in accordance with the board's directives.

Through dialogue with Sida's management, the board must inform itself about Sida's mission and decide on directives and guidelines for its operations. The board's mandate includes deciding on Sida's operational plan and budget proposal.
