The Role of International Trade for Environment and Climate Change – an Evidence-based Technical Note

This note aims to provide programme officers dealing with economic, market development as well as environment and climate portfolios at Sida and partner organisations with evidence-based knowledge on the links between trade, the environment and climate in a development context. It describes some trade-rules that contribute to environment and climate objectives and vice versa, as well as how trade can contribute to environment and climate objectives. It also highlights the role of development cooperation, including aid for trade, as a contributor towards a green transformation and includes some guiding questions for programme design and implementation.
