Summary

During the period 1980 to 1998, almost SEK 400 million of Swedish public funds were transferred to Nicaragua on a grant basis and invested for the purpose of forestry development. The purpose of this study is to analyse the development of the forestry programme and estimate lasting results; and to identify the main external and internal factors which shaped the programme and contribute to a discussion on principal lessons, thereby promoting the learning process within Sida and other international development agencies.
