Environmental Remediation at Paddock Tailings Area, Gracanica, Kosovo

Year 2000 Sida decided to support UNMIK´s Department of Trade and Industy with an amount of 5 MSEK for environmental remediation activites in Gracanica. The implementing institution was Trepca, which is a former state industrial conglomerate with mining and smelting as its core business. The overall objective of the project was to inprove people´s health and the enviromental situation. An evaluation was undertaken when the project was almost finalised in June/July 2004. The evaluators assessed relevance, achievements of objectives, impact, effeciancy and sustainability. The evaluators also assessed possible further support from Sida.
